The concept for this website came to me when my teenage grandchildren emigrated to the USA and I was concerned that they would never learn the history of their homeland. Hence I hope the style suits that age group.
History as taught in English schools is very incomplete and kids tend to end up knowing something about Henry 8th or World War Two and very little about the broad picture and a feeling of what 1000 years ago actually means. I have also been amazed how little young people know about 50 years ago and what life was like before the sexual revolution of the 1960s. I experienced the Blitz first hand (shows my age) and could always entertain the young people in the office with stories, indeed personal experiences, of that era.
No look at culture is complete without a study of religions and I have included a history and theology of all the religions that are now widely practised in England including Islam.
We do not generally answer questions on this site but are very pleased to receive comments and contributions in our forum. Any such material should be accompanied with its source. Likewise the sources for this site are listed in the section on further reading where you will notice most sources are from commentaries written less than 20 years ago when the barriers of political correctness were substantially removed.
This site turned out to be a millennium project which made it easy to relate history to periods before the year 2000 thus easing the concept of the passage of time.
